The Flow of Five

At Loimbie, everything is intentional. As it is with nature, there is an order and an alignment of that order. This is the foundation of all — and then we create, design, and express.

The Loimbie palette was founded on five elemental forces — a palette not just of colours, but of meaning. We call it The Flow of Five.

 

Carbon  —  The Eternal.

The Eternal Carbon. The foundation of all life. Ancient, permanent, unending. Reminiscent of the volcanic black sand beaches of Cameroon, Eritrea, Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, and on the islands of Zanzibar, São Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles. And let us not forget the Black Basalt columns and cliffs found in Southern and Eastern Africa.

Kalahari Dusk  —  Earth.

The Sovereign Red African Soil. Where the earth meets the sky. This is one of the factors contributing to the majestic magenta, mauve skies at dusk — around the sacred hours, which are regularly seen and experienced in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Botswana. The hue seen over the Kalahari Desert is the inspiration for this colour addition.

Sacred Emerald  —  Life.

Life is growing abundantly from the rich volcanic soil. Think of the mist-covered canopy of the Congo, or of the Tea Plantations of the 12 major tea-producing countries on the continent, including Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, and Uganda.

Ocean Mist  —  Water.

The pour. This is where the flow began. Water is pure and has no enemies, so it is the perfect conduit of energy. Speak once and let the land absorb. The ancient land flanked by the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean becomes the perfect bridge between the ritual and the result.

Cream Linen  —  Air.

Essential. Weightless. The breath between things. Intangible yet vital, it becomes tangible when its time. Let there be — and out into the air a miracle happens... Life takes hold, and then the cry.
