The Name
The word Loimbie (pronounced LOE-IM-beh) translates to:
"the feeling of joy that comes when the cycle of giving and receiving is in perfect balance."
It is the Spirit of Abundance. The Essence of the Gift. And it is the name of this brand — because everything we create is rooted in that same cycle:

Loimbie is a bespoke fashion brand, born in Nairobi, Kenya. We design and craft contemporary lifestyle clothing that brings together the rich textile traditions of the African continent with the clean lines of modern, global fashion. The Story Behind the Fabric
There is more to African fabric than pattern and colours. There is more than what the eye catches at first glance.
There is history in the weave. There is language in the print. There is memory, identity, and pride in every bolt of Kitenge, every panel of Kanga, every strip of Kente, every indigo bath of Adire, in every line of Bogolanfini mud cloth, and in every geometric print of the South African cotton fabric, often referred to as South African denim called Shweshwe.
At Loimbie, we take these stories — stories that have been passed down through generations, across borders, through kingdoms and markets and hands and looms — and we bring them forward. We combine the depth of East and West African textile heritage with the fabrics the world already knows: denim, linen, tweed, twill, and corduroy. Not to replace one with the other, but to create something entirely new. Something that belongs to now.
